His Plan In Time

Three years ago Nick was looking for a job. Any decent paying job that somewhat utilized his engineering degree. He went on many many interviews, but had a hard time finding one. But we finally ended up with Halliburton in Vernal, Utah. Not exactly high on our wish list, but hey it was a job. One of the jobs he applied for was just north of Salt Lake, we really thought it would be a neat job in a good location, but he ended up not getting it. Just a few weeks ago we found out they laid off over 400 people, many of those were engineers.

Needless to say we see now why God didn't put him in that job. Although Vernal has gotten slightly better over the time we have been here, it's not our ideal place to live. But we are so thankful to have a relatively safe job in this tough economy. It's amazing how God provides what is best for us, not just for the moment for the future also.

Now I just need to remember this as he interviews for a job in place we would actually like to be and we try to start a family... may His timing be our guide.

That's Why We Praise Him

(Really loving this song.)

He came to live, live a perfect life
He came to be the living Word of light
He came to die, so we'd be reconciled
He came to rise to show His power and might

And that's why we praise Him, that's why we sing
That's why we offer Him our everything
That's why we bow down and worship this King
'Cause He gave His everything
'Cause He gave His everything

He came to live, live again in us
He came to be our conquering King and Friend
He came to heal and show the lost ones His love
He came to go prepare a place for us.

That's why we praise Him, that's why we sing
That's why we offer Him our everything
That's why we bow down and worship this King
'Cause He gave His everything
'Cause He gave His everything

Happy 4th of July!

I always have such high hopes for writing more often, I guess it's just not one of my gifts.

In the time since my last post, my parents and grandma came to visit me in Utah all the way from Indiana. It was so great to have them here. My dad and Nick replaced the shed doors and then we painted the whole shed. I just need to finish up the trim. My grandma discovered we have the biggest rhubarb plants she has ever laid eyes on (which is really neat b/c she totally has a green thumb) and made us rhubarb crisp. My mom, well, I love her, but she's my mom and we butt heads frequently. They flew in and out of Denver, so we went back over there a couple days early with them and went sightseeing. We went to a wild animal sanctuary and a gold mine.

I've been doing lots of gardening this week. Well, mostly pulling weeds, but you have to have a little boring to enjoy the delicious veggies later. I also planted some annuals in our front flower bed since they were on sale at Walmart for only $1. Hope they make it, I guess it's a little late in the season, but at least they are pretty for now.

Monday morning bible study has been rough. I was warned though. No one has time, or wants to take the time to do their lesson or show up in the summer. We have had about 3 women each time, so that is something. Hope they are getting something out of it. It is very hard to get motivated though when you know there won't me much of a discussion on the topic b/c they haven't done the work.

Well today is the 4th so we volunteered to pass out water with the church's info on them at the parade. Hopefully that will spur some people into coming and learning more about VCC and more importantly about Christ.

Today is also the first farmers market for the year. I have been debating if I want to participate or not. It's only a couple hours on Saturday morning, but seems like when ever I try to sell things, people just don't buy...

Oh one last piece of exciting news, our friends here just had their first baby a boy (as far as I can tell through facebook, trying to give them space). So exciting, the thought of a new little person coming in to the world. What a blessing!

Let's Work On This

Mark 12:30-31
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.

Matthew 27:37-40
Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.

Bible Study

So tomorrow I begin a new bible study, "Know What You Believe" by Paul Little. At first it started out just me and one other young lady. Neither of us wanted to take a break for the summer and she is a new Christian (and I can always use a refresher). Some how it has warped into me leading this group of women (I'm not sure how many yet) in an all out study of what we believe.

I haven't done this before (lead a whole study series) and I am quite nervous. I really don't feel like I know what I'm doing, but I'm going to trust God. I think I better go pray...

What A Blessing

Nick just informed me that he is going back to the schedule where he works 3 weeks and then has a whole week off. Yeah!! Those 3 weeks will be rough, but at least we will be able to go do stuff when he has a whole week off.

At bible study this morning a couple ladies commented that they wish they knew some of this stuff (truth and application of the bible) earlier in their lives. I am so thankful that I am able to study God's word at such a young age. I truly believe that God orchestrates things in our life for His good. I have been through things that, looking back were not good, but maybe through these experiences God will use me to minister to someone else. Thinking of this possibility excites and scares me all at the same time. It is a huge responsibility to lead others in their walk with Christ. Of course I know I will fail at points, but I pray that I will listen intently and obediently to what God is wanting to do through me.

Happy Mother's Day

Today we celebrated mothers.

My Own Mom...
I am not near my mother, but I love her dearly. She has been both a friend and at points an enemy. Being far away and not seeing her often, may have made things easier. It could also be just the passing of time and the maturing of both of us. God has been working on us for a long time, and I pray we have a long time to ahead of us to continue our relationship. I love talking to my mom (on my own initiative) about the word of God and applying it. She has been instilling His knowledge in me for many years, and every once in a while I share something in a different light for her I believe. It is amazing how God can work like that. I can't wait until I can have a child to share in this joy with.

My Mother-In-Law...
I also love her dearly. I admit I was a little worried at first that I was not up to her standards for her son. I am not girly like her, but she loves me anyways. She does not make me feel like I have to be like her to be accepted into her family. I thank her for that. I enjoy talking to her, which is also kind of a newer thing. When I first married Nick, when she called I would give the phone to him or let her leave a message. Now, I answer when she calls with no apprehension, and enjoy our talks.

My Grandmothers...
What a diverse group of women I can call my grandmas and mamaws. I enjoy talking to them and spending time with them when I can. The unconditional love and open arms they always have are so much appreciated. I love them so much.

At church today I told many women happy mothers day. From my bible study leader, to a single mom. It is amazing how God has brought us all together with all of our different experiences to share for a time. I am not a mother, although I hope to be some day. I hope that from these wonderful women in my life I will be able to learn how to be the best mom I can be.
